Barbara Cooper’s novel, Don’t Be Frightened, is scheduled for release on November 3 by Atmosphere Press.
The book is set in Newmarket and explores themes of trauma, mental health, and trust, drawing from Ms Cooper’s experiences as a victim of an attack as a teenager and caring for her brother, who had schizophrenia.
The story follows Lucy, who, after a fire at a racing stable, finds herself drawn to Rory Fitzwilliam, her rescuer.
However, as their relationship develops, Lucy’s world starts shifting in inexplicable ways, raising questions about reality and trust.
